A mechanic visits a site for the first time, but finds his way easily thanks to a Wayfinding App. An error within the air treatment system is solved within hours instead of days, thanks to a specialist being able to guide the repair procedure using augmented reality. An engineer prepares maintenance of using the Google Streetview functionalliy. Within the model he or she can check the status of all key equipment. Thanks to digitally preparing maintenance!
To be able to realize those applications we first need a customized and easy-to-use building information model, also called a BIM model. During this presentation I will address how to organize such a BIM model. Keywords are: BIM, system engineering, co-creation.
Within the engineering company Sweco I am Advisor BIM and BIM innovator. As innovator I am renewing the way how we engineer things, including necessary work processes, templates and tooling. As an advisor I am coaching both clients and colleagues in how to implement BIM within their project organisations. As a trainer and guest lecturer I am happy to spread knowledge of BIM to anybody who is in need of it.

David Ernest has obtained a Master’s degree in building energy efficiency from the University of Paris and a Ph.D. in Architecture from the University of California, Berkeley.
In California, his has conducted several studies in the field of environmental design (including natural ventilation and occupant comfort simulations).
From 1991 to 1996, he has lead R&D programs in Group Icade, a leader in real estate services in France.
Starting in 1996, he has launched the certification program (ISO 9001, ISO 14001) for most of the activities of Group Icade (project management, real estate development, property management and facility management).
Since 2001, he has conducted consulting and project management activities and a series of audits in the field of facility management, environmental performance of buildings, occupants’ satisfaction, health & safety and space planning.
He is now leading the Innovation & Energy Department of VINCI Facilities with projects ranging from energy performance contracting
